I was surprised to hear today on the earning call that Research in Motion does not currently have any 4G phones and doesn't seem to have any plans for new phones in the near future. However, they did say their Playbook tablet will be 4G but is that enough? They danced around the question from the analyst and seemed a bit befuddled by certification issues. The management team continued to use the words "transition" on the call which means they are still in the planning phase and will continue to fall behind. This is just another reason why the Android 4G phone, iPhone and the iPad will continue to steal RIM's market share.
