🎥 How to Improve Your Signal: Video Guide

Watch this quick video that shows how to manually switch carriers on your phone when you're stuck in a dead zone:

📶 How to Manually Choose a Carrier

Disabling automatic network selection can help you switch to a stronger signal in weak zones, especially when roaming or near coverage boundaries.

📱 For iPhone (iOS):

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Network Selection
  2. Toggle Automaticoff
  3. Wait for the phone to scan available networks
  4. Select the carrier with the strongest signal

📱 For Android:

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks
  2. Tap Network Operators
  3. Disable Select automatically
  4. Choose a different network manually

This technique is especially useful in fringe coverage areas where your default carrier is weak but another network may have a stronger signal.

⚖️ Automatic vs. Manual Network Selection – Which Is Best for Businesses?

Automatic network selection is convenient and preferred for most users because your phone will always connect to the default carrier. However, this isn't always ideal for businesses that operate near state lines, remote zones, or inside steel/concrete buildings where one provider underperforms.

Manual network selection gives you the power to choose the strongest available carrier at any given time. This method is especially helpful for:

  • Sales reps driving through rural or cross-border areas
  • Teams in disaster zones with downed towers
  • Indoor offices with poor primary carrier performance

Recommendation: Businesses with mobile operations should educate staff on how to manually select networks when signal loss affects operations. This flexibility can mean the difference between a closed deal and a missed opportunity.

🔍 Where the Problem Happens Most

  • Office buildings with energy-efficient materials that block signals
  • Rural areas lacking cell towers or coverage by major carriers
  • Hospitals, stadiums, and hotels with poor indoor reception
  • Parking structures and known dead zones

📲 Why It Matters

Businesses rely on mobile connectivity for:

  • Sales calls and real-time communication
  • CRM apps and cloud-based workflows
  • Customer support and video conferencing
  • On-the-go operations and logistics

When calls drop or mobile apps fail due to a bad signal, sales cycles break down, meetings are missed, and leads go cold. This can be especially damaging for small and mid-sized businesses that don’t have redundant systems.

📍 Mapping the Problem

To help identify where cellular issues are most common, DeadCellZones.com has compiled a crowdsourced map of weak cell coverage. Business owners and employees can report trouble spots or check coverage issues before moving offices or deploying teams.

✅ Solutions to Consider

  • Installing a cell signal booster or DAS system
  • Switching to a carrier with better local coverage
  • Using Wi-Fi calling features for indoor communication
  • Mapping and avoiding dead zones on key routes

🚀 Final Thoughts

As remote work and mobile communication continue to dominate business operations, companies cannot afford to ignore poor cellular coverage. If your team or sales reps are dropping calls, it may be more than a technical hiccup—it could be lost revenue.

X Account Hacked and Locked Behind Authenticator App

My X Account @SolarEnergyMaps Was Hacked and Locked by an Authenticator App — 10 Days Later, Still No Help

Ten days ago, my X (formerly Twitter) account was hacked. The attacker added an authenticator app I don’t control, changed the email address, and effectively locked me out of my own account. Despite filing multiple support requests, I still haven’t received a single response from X customer service. This ongoing silence is frustrating and deeply concerning.

$Pump

How the Hack Happened

The attack occurred without warning. I was logged out of my account, and when I attempted to log back in, I was prompted for a two-factor authentication (2FA) code from an app I had never set up. It was clear that the hacker had enabled a new authenticator app and locked me out completely.

The Recovery Process (Or Lack Thereof)

I followed the official protocol:

  • Submitted the X Account Access Form
  • Detailed my account handle, original email, and the nature of the hack
  • Requested assistance specifically because I could not generate the 2FA codes

I have filed several emails and support tickets without any response. Not even an automated confirmation. It feels like I'm shouting into a void.

Why This Is a Big Problem

  • 🔒 Lost Access to Important DMs and History: Years of communication, followers, and posts are now out of reach.
  • 📉 Business Impact: If your account is tied to your brand or business, the loss can result in lost revenue or reputation damage.
  • No Clear Support Channel: X offers no phone number, no live chat, and no guaranteed response timeline.

Is There Any Way to Escalate?

Currently, there are limited options to escalate the issue:

  • Re-submit the form using a different email address
  • Tag @XSupport publicly in a post explaining your situation (results may vary)
  • File a complaint with the FTC if your account is tied to business or financial activity

Protecting Yourself in the Future

This experience has been a wake-up call. To protect your online presence, consider:

  • Using strong, unique passwords with a password manager
  • Setting up 2FA yourself before hackers can
  • Linking your account to a backup recovery method (phone/email)

Conclusion: X Needs Better Support

It’s unacceptable that users with legitimate, documented hacking cases can be ignored for more than 10 days. While X claims to support free speech and online expression, the complete lack of customer service for hacked users is alarming.

If you're facing the same issue, you’re not alone. Unfortunately, right now, all we can do is keep submitting forms and hope for a response that may never come.

Proof Verizon's Coverage Map Is Wrong

Verizon Wireless is known for its wide-reaching 4G LTE and 5G network, often boasting "the most reliable network in America." However, thousands of customers have found that Verizon’s official coverage map does not always reflect the true quality of service. From data dead zones to misleading 5G zones, this article presents proof that Verizon’s coverage map is often wrong.

Why Verizon's Coverage Map May Mislead

Verizon’s coverage maps are built using theoretical signal propagation models rather than real-time user data. These maps show where service "should" be available under optimal conditions—flat terrain, clear skies, and no interference. But in the real world, users encounter:

  • No signal in “full coverage” zones
  • Call drops in suburban neighborhoods
  • Slow 5G or LTE data despite map claims
  • Signal blocked by hills, buildings, or trees

Real-World Examples: Where Verizon’s Map Fails

Here are some user-submitted locations where Verizon's map shows coverage—but reality disagrees:

City Map Claim Real-World Experience
Asheville, NC 5G UW Available No 5G, only weak 4G signal indoors
Sedona, AZ Full LTE Coverage No signal in canyons or valley roads
San Bernardino, CA Strong 5G Nationwide Calls drop near mountain slopes, poor data
Brooklyn, NY 5G Ultra Wideband Blocked by buildings, drops to LTE often

What Verizon Customers Are Saying

Forums like Reddit, Twitter, and Verizon’s own support community are filled with users sharing similar frustrations. A common complaint: "My neighborhood shows full coverage, but I get one bar and can’t stream or make calls."

One Reddit user posted a comparison screenshot between the Verizon coverage map and their OpenSignal app test showing zero connectivity. Others use apps like Speedtest.net and RootMetrics to gather real proof.

How You Can Check Real Coverage

To verify your actual Verizon coverage, try these tools:

  • OpenSignal: Provides real user-tested signal and speed data
  • DeadCellZones.com: User-submitted reports of poor mobile coverage
  • Speedtest by Ookla: Measure your own 5G or LTE speed
  • RootMetrics: Offers crowdsourced data maps by carrier

Why This Matters

When Verizon’s coverage map is wrong, it misleads customers into choosing plans or devices that may not work in their area. It also hinders emergency communications and impacts people working remotely or on the road.

How to Report a Verizon Coverage Issue

Verizon encourages customers to report signal issues via their “network troubleshooting tool.” However, results may be limited.

If you’ve experienced issues, consider submitting a report to DeadCellZones.com to help other users avoid the same coverage traps.

Final Thoughts

Verizon’s coverage map may be a good starting point—but it is not gospel. For accurate, real-world coverage, rely on user-tested tools, and don’t be afraid to hold carriers accountable for misleading claims.

Always test your signal before committing to a new plan or device based on the map alone.

Optimizing Back-Office Workflows: Chatbots, Dashboards, and API Integration

Apple computer and screen

The back-office efficiency is of the essence in the modern world of high speed and digitalization. With hybrid and remote working becoming a standard, businesses are becoming more interested in how to optimize internal processes. Inefficient communication, siloed systems and manual processes are usually the biggest productivity killers.

Welcome chatbots in Slack and Microsoft Teams, interactive dashboards, and intelligent API connections, to name a few of the modern tools. These are changing the way teams are handling their internal processes - HR requests, approvals, financial reporting, IT support and so on.

In this paper, we will see how the two established product development firms, Fivewalls and TMS Outsource, utilize these technologies to streamline internal processes. Based on practical examples of application, we will present the best practices to create back-office solutions that are scalable and effective.

The Role of Chatbots in Internal Process Automation

Chatbots are no longer confined to customer support roles, they have become an essential utility in the internal process efficiency of an organization. Combined with such platforms as Slack and Microsoft Teams, bots are capable of automating:

  • Submitting time-off requests
  • Gathering feedback
  • Pulling live data from internal systems
  • Sending notifications and reminders
  • Approving expenses or tickets

At Fivewalls, we’ve built a Slackbot for PortaOne that dynamically pulls JIRA metrics and reports into Slack. It lets team leads instantly view sprint data or ticket statuses without leaving the chat interface. The bot integrates with JIRA’s REST API, supports role-based authentication, and works asynchronously through AWS Lambda for scalable execution.

TMS Outsource has deployed a Microsoft Teams chatbot for an internal appointment management system. This bot not only schedules meetings via Outlook integration but also sends contextual updates to employees, reducing missed communication and scheduling conflicts.

Our chatbot development has a number of best practices. We never make the user experience complicated and difficult to understand, using conversational UX, with fast buttons and minimum typing. To deliver scalability and quick deployments, we prefer the serverless backends, such as AWS Lambda or GCP Functions. We also make sure there is secure authentication and this is done by using modern protocols like OAuth 2.0 and integration with an identity provider like Google or Microsoft.

Chatbots provide a low-friction, highly contextual interface that simplifies everyday internal interactions and frees up time for higher-value work.

Interactive Dashboards for Better Decision-Making

A good dashboard pulls disparate data into a meaningfully actionable interface, so that decision-making can be done in real-time across departments. Dashboards are central to contemporary internal management whether it is revenue tracking, employee performance, or the number of support tickets.

Fivewalls developed a custom dashboard for NeuroFlash, a generative AI platform. The solution integrates data from Stripe, Bitrix24, and Slack to provide leadership with live performance insights. We used React for the frontend and Node.js + MongoDB for the backend, all deployed via Google Cloud. Data visualization and filtering allow leadership to react instantly to KPI shifts.

On the TMS Outsource side, the team developed a SaaS dashboard for VirtualPostMail - a virtual mailroom service in the U.S. The dashboard manages thousands of customer documents and uses React with a fully cloud-native backend on AWS. It includes multi-user roles, document previews, and real-time system monitoring.

Tips for effective dashboard implementation:

  • Use a reactive framework like React or Vue for snappy interfaces.
  • Connect with external APIs through REST or GraphQL.
  • Employ polling or WebSocket-based real-time updates for critical metrics.

The key is not just visualizing data - but doing it in a way that empowers faster, more informed decisions.

Efficient API Integrations: Connecting the Tools That Matter

The ability of your systems to communicate with each other is usually the key to back-office optimization. The integrations are the glue, which holds the tools such as CRMs, finance platforms, support ticketing systems, and chat tools together.

Fivewalls has a lot of practice in creating integrations with such APIs as Slack, Bitrix24, and Microsoft Graph. As an example, we connected a Bitrix24 CRM and Slack to automatically notify the sales teams of high-priority leads, formatting and pulling the current CRM data directly into the chat feed.

One of the prominent examples of use case at TMS Outsource is an appointment booking system with optical character recognition (OCR) and AWS SQS messaging. A user uploads a document, this is passed through an OCR service, queued using SQS and then processed by a Lambda function before the results are displayed on a secure web dashboard.

There are a number of best practices in successful API integrations. In case of failure we design around it by honoring rate limits and retry policies, which frequently involve exponential backoffs or queue-based designs. We make downstream processing easier by creating custom middleware that converts and standardizes inconsistent API responses. And we ensure that we have strong logging in place early, and we use a tool such as CloudWatch or Loggly to monitor and react to problems fast.

Done right, smart API integrations can eliminate redundancies, synchronize data, and dramatically reduce manual entry.

Choosing the Right Tech Stack & Architecture

Choosing the correct architecture and tech stack for back-office tools is crucial. It affects everything - from scalability to maintenance costs to how quickly features can be delivered.

Here’s a common, proven stack used by both Fivewalls and TMS:

  • Frontend: React or Vue.js
  • Backend: Node.js, Python (FastAPI), or Laravel (PHP)
  • Cloud: AWS (Lambda, SQS, RDS), Google Cloud
  • Databases: MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Docker-based pipelines

When to go serverless: If your workflow is event-driven (e.g., triggered by file uploads or messages), serverless platforms like AWS Lambda offer cost-effective scalability with minimal infrastructure.

When to go containerized: For complex apps needing fine-tuned control, containerization via Docker and Kubernetes allows modular deployment and scaling.

Regardless of the stack, ensure your architecture supports rapid iteration, high availability, and clear separation of concerns.

Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them

However, internal systems fail to meet the expectations because of preventable errors though they are well intended. Lack of a centralized system and use of manual workflows is one of the major issues that lead to duplication and miscommunication. The next issue is making chatbots too complex, i.e. when the conversation is unclear or too lengthy, the user will just skip the tool. The third risk is the lack of error visibility, which means that API failures are neither logged nor noticed and may result in data loss or workflow disruption.

In order to prevent these problems, we suggest you to develop your workflows based on the event-driven architecture that triggers the system responses automatically. We also promote staging deployments first, so you can test the edge-cases in the real world before going live. And to build a longer-term success, never forget to track the internal tool usage, and UX effectiveness using behavioral analytics platforms or internal logs.

Conclusion & Takeaways

Back-office workflows in the modern environment require more than fixed tools and manual procedures. Artificial intelligence-powered bots, real-time dashboards, and deep API integrations help companies communicate more quickly internally and have access to more reliable data and improved productivity.

The success stories of Fivewalls and TMS Outsource indicate that even the most cumbersome workflows can be streamlined to smooth digital experiences through a proper technical vision and an agile approach.

These technologies - when implemented correctly - can provide quantifiable results regardless of whether you want to automate internal approvals, integrate dozens of tools, or watch operations in real time.
